Two Cents versus EOC

Yes, I know a great deal is riding on the fifth Ashes test that starts tomorrow. Most importantly, Homer from Two Cents and I had a bet before the series started. Homer called the series for England. I called it for Australia 2-1. I forgot what scoreline Homer had predicted (remind us, Homer, was it 2-1 England?) The loser acknowledges the winner on his blog. The winner, if he so chooses, may crow. Or he could be dignified about it and just gloat in private.

Forget the Ashes. I can't stand the thought of losing anything, even a bet, to a Mumbai-wallah!

Come on Australia, don't let me down.

1-0 or 2-0 England.. So you already have the crowing rights :)

Cheers.

What would your thoughts be on Aus fielding the following team:

1. Katich
2. Watson
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. North
6. Haddin
7. Johnson
8. Hauritz
9. Siddle
10. Clark
11. Hilfenhaus

They won't do it, I don't think, but thoughts?

Homer: I didn't realize you hadn't called a single win for Oz. Well, there is still the possibility of an English win, so I won't start crowing yet!

JK: They won't pick it for the reason you must have in mind: they'd rather have six specialist bats. I think too, that 6 is precisely one position too high for Haddin. And lastly, (this is personal) I don't think five bowlers are ever needed.

Samir,

I was about to douse the enthusiasm that you and Homer have been showing on the Ashes result by saying it will end in 1-1 but, looking at the way the Aussies have suddenly collapsed like a pack of cards, looks like it was better to keep my mouth shut! ;P

CT: This has been a truly amazing collapse! Homer could still win his bet as far as final series result goes, even if not the final scoreline. Ponting must be the most stressed out man in Australian sports right now.
