Forza Cricket! The New York Times on Cricket in Italy

Always fun to see an article in the New York Times on cricket. This one has a bit of a twist; it involves the word "South Asians" sure, just like any other NYT article on cricket, but the "South Asians" aren't in New York, but in Italy.

Nice article, thanks for posting. I've looked up the cricketitalia website as I can read a bit of Italian and I think there are more and more Italians playing the sport which is brilliant.

Italy has always been a little more advanced cricket-wise than other European countries because of the link back via its immigrants to Australia. Christian Vieri, Italian striker with Australian roots was once asked who his hero was when he grew up: "Allan Border", he said, to much bemusement.

Both AC Milan and Parma started life as cricket clubs. I'd suggest a global sporting brand like Milan could afford to hire premium southern hemisphere cricket talent for a two month T20 tournament as a way of breaking into the Indian market, currently dominated by English clubs. But perhaps I am dreaming.
