Why I love my American friends
While discussing (over email) soccer's possible growth in India (and chatting about a wonderful documentary on the New York Cosmos, Once in a Lifetime), my good friend Tom Connell wrote to me:
I think I heard that India really took it on the chin in a recent test against England, although perhaps they came back since there was more to be played. Probably just a lull after their World Cup triumph. I'm sure they want to give the rest of the world the illusion that they can catch up!

Heh, your American friends are way ahead of mine. Mine can't get past the "You mean the game stops to drink tea?!" phase...
JK: Tom is well ahead of the curve. Notice that we were having a discussion about soccer, and talking about the New York Cosmos. That should give you some idea of his cosmopolitanism. But honestly, he does pay attention to cricket whenever he comes across it. I think he has a cable channel which has Zee on it, so he has even caught some highlights at times. During the World Cup, he even tuned in to dodgy bootleg video sites to catch some of the action!
Speaking of American friends, we'd love to be one, and we'd love to be listed on your site.
