My alltime World-XI

Personally, I think all-time World XIs are silly. I prefer picking World XIs according to eras. Having said that, I couldn't resist making one when Cricinfo suggested it.

Here is mine. I'm pretty sure I could make another one just as good on an all-time basis.

Len Hutton
Sunil Gavaskar
Viv Richards
Don Bradman
Greg Chappell
Gary Sobers
Adam Gilchrist
Wasim Akram
Shane Warne
Malcolm Marshall
Dennis Lillee

You are just trolling for hits, aren't you? :-)

Sit back and watch while the pro-Tendulkar lobby pitches its tent in your blog's backyard, followed shortly by the "SRT-fails-when-it-matters-most" brigade to provide the counter-point.

Heck, wars have been started for smaller transgressions.

4 of your players never played a Test in India, and played 5 Tests in the Indian sub-continent between them.

A World XI in the year 2010?

I had Sehwag in place of Gavaskar, Tendulkar in place of Chappell, Trueman in place of Lillee and Imran in place of Lillee. Otherwise, our sides are the same.

JQ: You best believe it :) Seriously, I should put up another one just to show how silly the exercise is.

Kartikeya: No doubt. But why do you need two pace bowlers to replace Lillee? :)

Addy: Thanks, welcome to the blog!

Kartikeya: Never. Wasim was twice the bowler Imran was. Trust me, I've seen them both.

Even though one can argue that wasim was more talented than imran, Imran's test avg. was better than wasim's. Plus Imran gets 40 runs in addition per inning with his batting. Imran was out for an injury for three years when he was 28 or at his peak and he came back to avg. over 40 while batting and around 20 when bowling. Arguably his abilities as a captain and his all around abilities and never die attitude should earn him a position in any side ever.

ha ha, my earlier comments about Samir the cricinfo blogger being a novice cricket fan has been augmented by this world XI of yours. Of course it is your personal opinion, but then even the man on the streets of India has his own personal opinion. Who cares? :P
