Need help with comment spam
Short of introducing moderated comments, is there any way I can get rid of these pesky spammers in my comments. I seem to get the same lot - selling flowers and cakes.

I don't know about Blogger, but Wordpress has a spam filter which kills these spam comments. :)
I don't think there is any widget like Akismet for Blogger. Comment moderation is the only sure shot way to stop spam comments from being published..
Switch to Wordpress. No spam. Easy interface. Transfer the entire blog with a few clicks. No worries.
Thiru, Megha, Nesta: Thanks very much for the advice. I'll look into moving to Wordpress. I've received the same advice from other folks, so that might be the way to go.

I'm having the same problem at the moment, people keep telling me to move to wordpress for many reasons. I've just turned on moderation because I've been getting a lot of Japanese porn spam (in Japanese). So annoying. The good news is I found another cricket blog so YAY!
